Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 April 2026

Bloodhound (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Blue Dog Digital. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Bloodhound Shopify app and related services.

1. Information we collect

From merchants (via Shopify APIs):

  • Shop domain and store name (provided during app installation)
  • Shopify session tokens for authentication
  • App configuration settings you enter (AOV, conversion rate, currency, alert webhook URLs)

From storefront visitors (via the monitoring script):

  • JavaScript error messages, stack traces, and source file references
  • Core Web Vitals performance metrics (LCP, CLS, INP, FCP, TTFB)
  • Script resource timing data (load duration, transfer size, origin)
  • Page URL paths and template types (product, collection, cart, etc.)
  • Browser user agent strings
  • Anonymous session identifiers (randomly generated, not linked to any individual)

We do NOT collect:

  • Customer names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Payment or financial information
  • Customer account data
  • Cookies or cross-site tracking identifiers
  • IP addresses of storefront visitors (not collected, not stored, not processed)

2. How we use the information

  • To display error reports, performance metrics, and script analytics in the Bloodhound dashboard
  • To calculate aggregated statistics (p75 Core Web Vitals, error counts, affected sessions)
  • To estimate revenue impact using merchant-provided AOV and conversion rate
  • To send alert notifications to webhook URLs configured by the merchant
  • To group and deduplicate errors into actionable issues

We do not sell, rent, or share any collected data with third parties. Data is used solely to provide the Bloodhound monitoring service to the merchant who installed the app.

3. Data storage and retention

All data is stored on servers operated by Blue Dog Digital, hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Helsinki, Finland (EU). Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections.

  • Free plan: Raw event data is retained for 7 days. Aggregated daily metrics are retained indefinitely.
  • Pro and Enterprise plans: All data is retained indefinitely until the merchant uninstalls the app or requests deletion.

4. Data deletion

When a merchant uninstalls Bloodhound, we receive a webhook notification from Shopify. Upon receiving this notification, all data associated with that store is permanently deleted within 48 hours, including:

  • Store configuration and settings
  • All error events and issues
  • All CWV metrics and aggregations
  • All script performance data
  • Alert configurations and delivery logs

Merchants can also request data deletion at any time by contacting us at support@bloodhoundcro.com.

5. Data subject requests

Bloodhound does not collect personally identifiable information about storefront visitors. Anonymous session IDs are randomly generated and cannot be linked to any individual. As such, we cannot identify, retrieve, or delete data relating to a specific individual visitor.

If a merchant or Shopify submits a customer data request or redaction request, we respond within the required timeframe confirming that no PII is held.

6. GDPR compliance

We process data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legal basis for processing is legitimate interest (providing the monitoring service the merchant has requested). Data is stored within the EU (Finland). We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data, including encrypted database connections, firewall restrictions, and access controls.

7. The monitoring script

The Bloodhound monitoring script is:

  • Less than 5KB gzipped
  • Loaded asynchronously with the defer attribute
  • Non-render-blocking
  • Does not set any cookies
  • Does not access localStorage or sessionStorage
  • Does not collect IP addresses
  • Does not fingerprint browsers or devices
  • Does not track users across sites

8. Third-party services

Bloodhound uses the following third-party services:

  • Shopify: For app installation, authentication, and billing
  • Hetzner Online GmbH: Server hosting (Helsinki, Finland)

We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services on the Bloodhound website or within the app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
